The Works of the Right Honourable Never Before Printed - First Edition This volume contains 'His Lordships Advice to His Children, Several Speeches in Parliament with many other Occasional Discourses on the Affairs of the Two Last Reigns being Original Manuscripts Written with His Lordships own Hand.' There is an Epistle Dedication to the Earl of Warrington by Dela Heuze, this is followed by the Contents Page with the main text beginning on page one. The book concludes with catalogues for both John Lawrence and John Dunton. Henry Booth, 1st Earl of Warrington, PC (January 13, 1651 – January 2, 1694) was a son of George Booth, Baron Delamer and Lady Elizabeth Grey. His maternal grandparents were Henry Grey, 1st Earl of Stamford and Anne Cecil, daughter of William Cecil, 2nd Earl of Exeter. He served as a member of Parliament for Cheshire, and was conspicuous for his opposition to Catholics. He married Mary Langham on 7 July 1670, and they had three children who lived past infancy - George, Elizabeth, and Mary. In 1684, he succeeded his father as the 2nd Baron Delamer. During the Revolution of 1688, Delamer declared in favour of William of Orange, and raised an army in Cheshire in support of him. After William was installed as William III, he made Delamer chancellor of the exchequer in 1689. He wrote a number of political tracts, which were published after his death in this book. He also authored a tract in vindication of his friend, Edward Russell. He was created Earl of Warrington in 1690, became mayor of Chester in 1691 and died in 1694. 684 pages. |
